Guidelines for participation in MahaYuddh

1. This is the FIRST OF ITS KIND highly interactive Debate session which will happen in a boxing ring!

2. Teams will typically consist of one postgraduate student accompanied by one mentor who could be a peer, senior colleague, faculty or a practitioner from the respective zone.

3. It is mandatory for the teams to register for the conference to be able to participate.

4. Each topic will have 2 student presenters - one speaking for and one against.

5. The duration of each presentation (for or against) will be for 4 minutes. A 1 min rebuttal time will be provided to each presenter followed by 2 min QnA by the judges.

6. The presentation may be in any creative format, with / without a powerpoint support.

7. Respective mentors are allowed to guide / support their presenters during the judges QnA and in rebuttal, if required.

8. The session moderator will act as a Referee, overseeing the debate, ensuring rules are followed and time limits are respected. The moderator will also manage the QnA and rebuttals and provide final remarks.

9. Each individual debate will have a winner announced by winner’s hand raising by the moderator. The entire session will have 2 of the best teams – “THE CCC YODDHAS”

10. Evaluation criteria will be based on the content of presentation, presentation skills, argument strength, response to judges’ QnA and adherence to time.

11. The stage will have a boxing arena theme with the participants required to wear robes over their attire during entry onto the stage, accompanied by their mentors. The robes and gloves will be provided by the organisers.

12. The participants are preferred to wear a non formal attire (T shirts with shorts / tracks / non formal pants) as closely resembling a boxer’s as possible but as comfortable and suitable to the participant. The attire can be worn over their normal attire as well if so preferred and convenient.

13. Please note that the session along with the presentation may be video-taped for inclusion in the proceedings of the conference or media promotions.
